Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! This season I decided to start playing in Modern league, where only the newest 2 sets are legal, instead of Wild where all sets were legal. The passing of the proposal to ban bots in Modern spurred this decision, along with potentially freeing up all my Wild only cards to be land workers. I made this decision later than I should have in the season, as with the restricted number of ranked matches I didn’t leave myself a lot of time to move up in the new league.
Nothing of real note in terms of updates this past week, mainly just the ability to lock titles from being traded, or sold, and some security features following an issue with the Peakmonsters bidding system a few weeks back. The banning of bots in Modern hasn’t actually happened yet, and the only new proposal is one about changing the market fee to be 6% and to change the distribution of that fee.
With it being a quiet week, and there being plenty of end of season screenshots to post, let’s move on to the breakdown of the last week of this season.
Daily Quest Rewards:
Daily Quest # 955. Got Healing Focus on my main account, mainly playing in Wild Gold league. I received 4.824 (2.413 + 2.07 + 0.341) Splintershard Tokens (SPS), 6 Swamp Spitters (common monster), and a Berix Snakeye (legendary monster)!
InvestYGator, my Silver league alternate account, got Flying Focus. I got 0.5 (0.079 + 0.291 + 0.13) SPS, 3 Gold potions, 9 (3 + 1 + 3 + 2) Legendary potions, 2 Drybone Barbarian (common monster), 2 Vernai Marksrat (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 956. Got Dragon Focus. I received 3.004 (1.905 + 0.344 + 0.344 + 0.411) SPS, 4 Fungus Flingers, and 3 Drybone Barbarians.
InvestYGator got Stealth Focus. I got 10.922 (10.752 + 0.081 + 0.089) SPS, 5 (3 + 2) Legendary potions, 3 Gold potions, 24 Merits, a Swamp Spitter, 4 (3 + 1) Dumacke Orcs (common monster), 3 Terraceous Grunts (common monster), a War Pegasus (rare monster), and an Octavia Shadowmeld (rare summoner).
Daily Quest # 957. Got Disable Focus. I received 4.973 (0.365 + 0.445 + 4.163) SPS and a Wily Coyotian (common monster).
InvestYGator got Stealth Focus. I got 7.561 (0.085 + 7.363 + 0.113) SPS, 5 (2 + 3) Legendary potions, 3 Gold potions, 76 (16 + 8 + 52) Merits, 3 Coastal Sentry (common monster), 2 Madcap Magus (rare monster), and a gold foil Possessed Puppet (common monster)!
Daily Quest # 958. Got Exploits Focus. I received 1.004 (0.188 + 0.358 + 0.458) SPS, 7 Gold potions, a Dumacke Orc, and 5 Venari Marksrat.
InvestYGator got Death Focus. I got 0.939 (0.131 + 0.057 + 0.096 + 0.5 + 0.051 + 0.104) SPS, 16 Merits, 6 (1 + 3 + 2) Legendary potions, 3 Drybone Barbarians, 2 Terraceous Grunts, and a Gobson Bomber (common monster).
Daily Quest # 959. Got Defend Focus. I received 2.675 (1.262 + 1.413) SPS, 4 Legendary potions, and a Gobson Bomber. At this point I had made it up to Silver in Modern, making these Gold league chests harder to earn.
InvestYGator got Anti-Magic Focus. I got 51.991 (51.451 + 0.107 + 0.32 + 0.113) SPS, 3 (2 + 1) Legendary potions, 3 Gold potions, 20 Merits, 2 Wily Coyotians, a Dumacke Orc, 3 Venari Marksrat, and a Helios Matriarch (rare summoner).
Daily Quest # 960. Got Exploits Focus. I received 2.887 (0.267 + 2.203 + 0.417) SPS, 5 Gold potions, and an Evelyn Auvera (epic monster). I also got into Gold in Modern, and had definitely stopped playing Wild at this point.
InvestYGator got Defend Focus. I got 0.297 (0.113 + 0.062 + 0.122) SPS, 56 (20 + 36) Merits, 2 Firecallers (common monster), a Fungus Flinger (common monster), a Wily Coyotian, 2 Possessed Puppets, and a Kra’ar Xoc (epic monster).
Daily Quest # 961. Got Healing Focus. I received 4.712 (1.765 + 0.442 + 2.505) SPS, 9 Gold potions, 16 (9 + 7) Legendary potions, 3 Terraceous Grunts, 6 Gobson Bombers, 2 Ferox Defenders, and 2 Chaos Legion packs!
InvestYGator got Disable Focus. I got 16.535 (0.067 + 0.077 + 16.261 + 0.06 + 0.07) SPS, 2 Legendary Potions, 2 Gold potions, 88 (8 + 80) Merits, 3 Wily Coyotian, 2 Ferox Defenders, and a gold foil Wily Coyotian!

Guild Brawl #148, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild actually came in 4th place, albeit with little help from me this time around. Glad to see that people are starting to submit their brawl matches again!

No real trading or tournaments, as usual. Playing in modern has been a bit of a different experience. A lot of the cards that I would normally play aren’t legal, so it has taken some adjusting to the format.
I managed to make it fairly close to Diamond III, but not quite into it. If I had moved over to Modern earlier, I’m pretty confident that I could have made it. We’ll see how this season goes, since I’ll be starting from Gold III instead of Novice.
Having a decent amount of Untamed cards certainly helped. Though, I also got fewer rewards on my main account this season, since I was earning lower rating in lower leagues for a chunk of it. Here’s what I got for season rewards:
With Modern, my lack of leveled up Riftwatcher cards hurts a bit. But, it also hurt in Wild. At least now I don’t lose due to not having leveled up Alpha/Beta cards!
As noted earlier, my goal for the next season is to try to get into Diamond in Modern. I may try to dip back into Wild to keep myself at Gold league, or Silver league for my alt. We’ll see how that works out!
I’m also curious to see if the guild continues to do better. We haven’t gotten any more new people yet, but at least the people who are left seem to be playing! Hopefully I’ll also win more next week!
