Splinterland Self Challenge

My Splinterlands Blog #85 – New Ranked Rewards Are Here!

Welcome to another entry where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! Initially it was a self challenge, to see how far I could get with the initial set of cards plus whatever I could win. But, that kind of fell apart around week 30 (with the game integrating with the WAX network and users being able to buy and sell cards on Atomic Hub). Now, it’s mainly just me tracking my progress within the game.

The season is over and the new ranked rewards system is here, along with a dozen new reward cards! While this is supposed to be a retrospective on the past season, that is the big news for this week and deserves some note. The new reward cards were added before the season ended, so people could get them in their seasonal rewards.

There hasn’t been a lot of coverage of the new reward cards from official sources, but I did get a few as part of my season rewards. I’ll slowly talk about them a bit over my next few articles. This week we’ll take a quick look at a couple of the new cards that I got in my seasonal rewards.

A strong card at level 1, doing 2 ranged damage. However, relatively low health, moderate mana cost, and not being melee make this less useful for most players.
An odd card that only really shines in no-magic matches or under the equal health for all monsters rules set.

I’ll talk a bit more about the new reward system next week, after playing in it more. It did impact where I ended the season on my accounts. But, for now, let’s go over the past week:

Daily Quest Rewards:

Daily Quest # 620. Win 5 with Snipe. For completing this daily quest, I got 13 Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), a Gold potion, a Legendary potion, a Venari Heatsmith (common monster), a Pelacor Bandit (common monster), 2 Gargoya Lions (common monster), and a gold foil Gargoya Lion! My alt account, InvestyGator, got a Djinn Oshannus (legendary monster)!

Daily Quest # 621. Win 5 with Fire… re-rolled to Win 5 with Snipe. For completing this daily quest, I received 2 Legendary potions, a Gold potion, 2 Gargoya Lions, a Venari Heatsmith, a Pelacor Conjurer (common monster), and an Exploding Rats (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 622. Win 5 with Death… re-rolled to Win 5 with Snipe. For completing this daily quest, I got 8 (6 + 2) DEC, 2 Legendary potions, a Pelacor Bandit, 2 Venari Seedsmiths (rare monster), and a Naga Assassin (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 623. Win 5 with Dragon. For finishing this daily quest, I received 10 DEC, 2 Legendary potions, a Gold potion, a Pelacor Conjurer, a Pelacor Mercenary (common monster), a Pelacor Deceiver (common monster), and a Venari Crystalsmith (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 624. Win 5 with Sneak. For finishing this daily quest, I received 7 DEC, a Gold potion, a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Mercenary, a Pelacor Conjurer, 2 Venari Heatsmiths, and a Venari Wavesmith (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 625. Win 5 with Fire.. re-rolled to Win 5 with Dragon. Got 38 (22 + 2 + 14) DEC, 2 Gold potions, a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Bandit, and a Pelacor Mercenary.

Daily Quest # 626. Win 5 with Death.. re-rolled to Win 5 with Dragon. On the last day of the season, I went up to Diamond I and got 47 (29 + 14 + 4) DEC, 3 Pelacor Bandits, 3 Venari Heatsmith, 2 Gagoya Lions, an Exploding Rats, a Naga Assassin, and a gold foil Pelacor Conjurer.

I opened one Chaos Legion pack this week. I actually did it as a test to see if you could open single packs using the open multiple packs option, which you can. Rumor has it that open multiple gives you better results.

A great pack with a legendary and gold foil common! Maybe I’ll do some more testing of this theory next week!

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #83, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. Two people failed to submit teams, so the guild came in 5th place this time. We could have easily done better with another couple of wins.

Vs. AMIRAN of C. Black Bulls

Vs. LITTLEBILBO of SLOTH CONFEDIRATION

Vs. ROOKSBURNING OF BLACK LOTUS

I did manage to get enough merits to buy another Gladiator pack.

Another great pack, with a new gold foil for me to play in my brawls!

The Rest:

No tournaments as usual. I did trade a few extra death summoners for a couple of Evangelists (out-of-print epic reward monster) and a bunch of Phantasms (out-of-print common reward monster). I decided to try staying in Silver with InvestYGator and moving up to Diamond with my main account. So, less rewards on my alt, but I’ll have an easier time getting back to the right league.

One new Epic card for my Silver I finish on InvestYGator.
Split into multiple images due to the volume of Diamond I chests.
A gold foil rare, gold foil common, and three epic monsters. Sadly no packs or legendary cards this time. Hopefully I’ll do better next season with the new reward system!

My plan for the upcoming season is to try to stay in Silver with InvestYGator and see if I can grind my way into Diamond somewhat early in the season on my main. I did mistakenly get some of my main cards on cool down from delegations, so the first day is going to be rough in Gold. But, I am looking forward to seeing the improved rewards, and I’ll be back next week with some new daily quest info!
