Welcome to another entry where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! Initially it was a self challenge, to see how far I could get with the initial set of cards plus whatever I could win. But, that kind of fell apart around week 30 (with the game integrating with the WAX network and users being able to buy and sell cards on Atomic Hub). Now, it’s mainly just me tracking my progress within the game.
The big news this week is that the details of the new Ranked Reward system were posted. The developers also noted, during the weekly town hall video stream, that the Validator node license pre-sale would start this month. Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), the main reward currency for the game, also finally dropped back down to its $1 = 1,000 DEC soft peg.
Other than that, this season was a bit longer than usual, which allowed for me to get both of my accounts up to higher than normal ratings. Though, with prices on cards being low and a big increase in rewards for upper tier play coming out, I did pick up a few cards this past week. I’ll get into that more at the end; for now let’s take a look at the usual results from this past week:
Daily Quest Rewards:
Daily Quest # 604. Win 5 with Sneak. For completing this daily quest, I got 12 (10 + 2) DEC, a Gold potion, a Legendary potion, a Venari Heatsmith (common monster), a Pelacor Deceiver (common monster), a Venari Bonesmith (rare monster), and a Venari Crystalsmith (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 605. Win 5 with Earth. For finishing this quest, I received 13 (10 + 3) DEC, a Gargoya Lion (common monster), a Pelacor Bandit (common monster), 3 Twilight Basilisks (rare monster), and an Exploding Rat (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 606. Win 5 with Water. For finishing this daily quest, I got 17 (13 + 2 + 2) DEC, 2 Legendary potions, a Gold potion, and 2 Gargoya Devils (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 607. Win 5 with Earth. For completing this daily quest, I received 1 DEC, a Legendary potion, a Gold potion, a Pelacor Bandit, a Pelacor Mercenary (common monster), a Pelacor Conjurer, a Venari Crystalsmith, and a Djinn Chwala (epic monster)!
Daily Quest # 608. Win 5 with Fire… re-rolled to Win 5 with Earth. For finishing this daily quest, I got 3 (2 + 1) DEC, 3 Legendary Potions, a Gold potion, a Gargoya Lion, and a Djinn Chwala (epic monster)!
Daily Quest # 609. Win 5 with Earth. Got 37 (20 + 9 + 8) DEC, a Gold potion, a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Conjurer, a Pelacor Deceiver, and a Twilight Basilisk.
Daily Quest # 610. Win 5 with Fire.. re-rolled to Win 5 with Sneak. Got 3 (2 + 1) DEC, 2 Gold potions, a Legendary potion, a Venari Heatsmith, a Gargoya Lion, and a Venari Wavesmith (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 611. Win 5 with Sneak. Ground up to Diamond I and got 9 (5 + 4) DEC, 2 Gold potions, 2 Legendary potions, 4 Venari Heatsmith, a Pelacor Mercenary, a Pelacor Bandit, and a Venari Bonesmith.
Guild Brawls:
Guild Brawl #80, playing Gold foil Bronze. Though I didn’t contribute a ton, the guild actually managed to come in third place this time around. We’ve been struggling with people signing up and attending brawls, so this was an uptick in placing.
Vs. DANIEL-WNG of SUPERNATURAL
Guild Brawl #81, playing Gold foil Bronze. While I had a surprisingly large number of opponents, and did quite well, at least 3 people failed to submit teams this brawl. We ended up coming in 8th place because of this, when a few more wins would have made a big difference.
Vs. PCIMMY of PUGGINI’S PIZZA CO
Vs. SOLOMINTER.SPLAND of THE MISFITS
The Rest:
As noted, I placed the highest I’ve finished so far this season! My main account finished in Diamond I and my InvestYGator account finished in Gold I. I actually had enough rating to theoretically get into Diamond III on my alt from Silver, though it would have been capped when I advanced to Gold. I actually found battling for rating in Diamond II, to get to Diamond I, was easier than battling at the top end of Gold I late in the season.
I also dropped a little fiat and picked up a max level Tarsa, the Chaos Legion Fire summoner, and Thaddius Brood, the chaos Legion death summoner. I also picked up 3 more copies of Queen Mycellia and Legionnaire Alvar to level my copies up to level 3, 5 Harklaw to get him up to max level, and a level 3 copy of Iza The Fanged. If I can consistently play at a Diamond level in the new rewards system, I’m hoping that this will pay off. We’ll find out in a couple more weeks!
And, that’s about it for this week. If you made it this far, thank you for reading! I’ll be back next week with another update. And, if you have any questions or comments, please let me know below!
