Splinterland Self Challenge

My Splinterlands Blog #82 – The Long Season

Welcome to another entry where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! Initially it was a self challenge, to see how far I could get with the initial set of cards plus whatever I could win. But, that kind of fell apart around week 30 (with the game integrating with the WAX network and users being able to buy and sell cards on Atomic Hub). Now, it’s mainly just me tracking my progress within the game.

As noted at the end of my last update, this current season seems slightly longer than usual. There was another small patch, with mostly minor fixes, released since last week. No new big features as of yet, though it sounds like the new rewards release should start with the first season of ranked play in June.

I did do a little trading this past week – well, really just buying mainly. Though, I’ll get more into that at the end. For now, let’s go over the usual results from the past week:

Daily Quest Rewards:

Daily Quest # 595. Win 3 with No Neutral. I started back in Gold III, as usual for the new season. For completing this daily quest, I received 17 (6 + 11) Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), 2 Gold potions, a Legendary potion, and a Pelacor Mercenary (common monster).

Daily Quest # 596. Win 5 with Snipe. For finishing this quest, I received 18 (10 + 8) DEC, a Legendary potion, a Gargoya Lion (common monster), a Pelacor Mercenary, and a Naga Assassin (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 597. Win 3 with No Neutral. I managed to get back into Gold II and got 250 DEC, a Gold potion, a Venari Heatsmith (common monster), a Pelacor Bandit (common monster), a Venari Wavesmith (rare monster), and a Uraeus (epic monster)!

I combined enough copies to get a level 5 this past week.

Daily Quest # 598. Win 5 with Dragon. For finishing this daily quest, I received 22 (10 + 7 + 5) DEC, a Gold potion, a Pelacor Mercenary, a Venari Crystalsmith (rare monster), and a Naga Assassin.

Daily Quest # 599. Win 5 with Water. For finishing this daily quest, I got 13 (10 + 2 + 1) DEC, a Gold potion, a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Conjurer (common monster), and a Gargoya Devil (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 600. Win 5 with Death… re-rolled to Win 3 with No Neutral. My Death deck still feels a bit weak for Gold league. I managed to get back up to Gold I and received 48 (20 + 28) DEC, a Legendary potion, 2 Venari Heatsmiths, a Pelacor Mercenary, an Exploding Rats (rare monster), and a Chaos Legion pack! InvestYGator got a gold foil Gargoya Lion!

Daily Quest # 601. Win 5 with Death… re-rolled to Win 5 with Earth. For completing this daily quest, I received 87 (80 + 7) DEC, a Gold potion, a Gargoya Lion, a Pelacor Conjurer (common monster), a Venari Heatsmith, a Djinn Renova (epic monster), and a Chaos Legion pack!

Daily Quest # 602. Win 5 with Earth. For completing this daily quest, I got 21 DEC, a Legendary potion, 2 Pelacor Bandits, a Venari Heatsmith, a Gargoya Lion, an Exploding Rats, and a Twilight Basilisk (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 603. Win 5 with Fire… re-rolled to Win 5 with Water. For finishing this daily quest, I received 74 (68 + 6) DEC, a Gold potion, a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Conjurer, a Gargoya Lion, and 2 Venari Wavesmiths.

I did open one Chaos Legion pack this past week:

A good pack, with two good rare cards, one being a summoner. The epic is one of the worst in the set, but at least it is an epic card.

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #78, playing Gold foil Bronze. Not a lot of opponents this week, though the guild didn’t do great in brawls. We came in 6th place this week.

Vs. JAZZJAM of BLOCKCHAIN HEROES

Vs. SPEEDMASTER57 of LANDLORDS

Guild Brawl #79, playing Gold foil Bronze Chaos Legion Only. Someone else in the guild took my usual spot, so I ended up doing the Chaos Legion only set, which my collection is a little weaker in. There were a few more opponents, but I didn’t do all that great. The guild came in 5th place overall this brawl.

Vs. MOROS of CARDS OF FURY

Vs. BIGSCOOTBIZZ OF FIGHTING ILLINI

Vs. COLOSSAL of LVLUPLIFE / YGG

Vs. TEGRIDY OF CRYPTO CANUCKS

The Rest:

It’s been noted several times on town halls, that the new ranked reward system is intended to incentivize players to try to reach as high a rank as they can. To that end, I used some of my old tournament winnings, that I finally got last week, to pick up some new cards while prices on them are down. My aim is to start getting some max level Chaos Legion cards, so I can potentially complete in the Diamond league when the Modern and Wild format split happens.

Also, because it’s the most affordable set.

I got a max level General Sloan, Prismologist, Pelacor Arbalest, Portal Spinner, and finished leveling up Pelacor Conjurer. The Life Splinter seems fairly unpopular, as the cards were relatively cheap. I have yet to actually advance to Diamond to be able play them at max level, but having at least one max level Summoner in each Splinter seems like a good initial target for advancing.

I technically have enough copies of Bortus to max him out for Water, though Kelya is probably a better summoner. I’m also not likely to get max level legendary summoners anytime soon, so I may be at a serious disadvantage against the really big players. At any rate, hopefully it will pay off with the new reward system.

That’s about it for this update! If you made it this far, thank you for reading! I’ll be back next week with the season wrap up. And, if you have any questions or comments, please let me know below!
