Welcome to another entry where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! Initially it was a self challenge, to see how far I could get with the initial set of cards plus whatever I could win. But, that kind of fell apart around week 30 (with the game integrating with the WAX network and users being able to buy and sell cards on Atomic Hub). Now, it’s mainly just me tracking my progress within the game.
There are always 2 seasons a month, so on shorter months like this one we get an abbreviated second season of Splinterlands. It feels like I just finished the article about the end of the last season, but we’re already more than halfway through this next one! Or, maybe that’s just a reflection of how busy I’ve been of late.
The only big news is the same as last week, the air drop card is going to be released soon. As expected, this has bumped up the price of vouchers as people try to get set-up to buy this limited edition card. It hasn’t really made a big impact in the price of Splintershard tokens (SPS).
It has been a fairly quiet week in terms of playing the game, at least for me. Official tournaments are back, which is kind of big news, but I didn’t actually sign up for any. Again, a fairly busy week for me, so let’s just get to the usual breakdown of the past week:
Daily Quest Rewards:
Daily Quest # 526. Win 5 with Water. With the season reset, I was back in Gold III again. I managed to stay there while finishing this daily quest and received 9 Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), a Gold potion, 2 Pelacor Mercenaries (common monster), a Pelacor Deceiver (common monster), and a Venari Heatsmith (common monster).
Daily Quest # 527. Win 5 with Fire… re-rolled to Win 5 with Dragon. I actually went on a pretty good win streak and got up to Gold II early in the season. For completing this daily quest, I got 18 (13 + 5) DEC, a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Mercenary, a Gargoya Lion (common monster), a Venari Heatsmith, and a gold foil Pelacor Deceiver!
Daily Quest # 528. Win 5 with Fire… re-rolled to Win 5 with Snipe. For completing this daily quest, I received 11 (5 + 6) DEC, 2 Gold potions, a Venari Heatsmith, a Pelacor Deceiver, and a Uraeus (epic monster)!
Daily Quest # 529. Win 5 with Life. This has become a bit more feasible to complete after the heal on Uriel the Purifier got fixed so that it triggers every round. For completing this daily quest, I got 6 DEC, 2 Gold potions, 2 Pelacor Bandits, a Pelacor Conjurer (common monster), and Exploding Rats (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 530. Win 5 with Fire… re-rolled to Win 5 with Earth. I managed to get up to Gold I, getting 14 (7 + 7 DEC), 3 Legendary potions, 2 Pelacor Conjurers, and a Pelacor Deceiver for completing the daily quest. Of note, my InvestYGator account got a gold foil Gargoya Lion (common monster)!
Daily Quest # 531. Win 3 with No Neutral. For finishing this daily quest, I received 23 (8 + 4 + 8 + 3) DEC, a Legendary potion, a Gold potion, a Gargoya Lion, and a Venari Crystalsmith (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 532. Win 3 with No Neutral. For completing this daily quest, I got 39 (6 + 7 + 26) DEC, a Gold potion, a Venari Heatsmith, a Pelacor Deceiver, a Pelacor Mercenary, and a Venari Wavesmith (rare monster).
Guild Brawls:
Guild Brawl #65, playing Gold foil Bronze, Untamed only. Four different people either failed to submit, or at least win, any matches this time around, so the guild ended up coming in 5th place. On the bright side, I actually got to play a few matches.
Vs. Mecada of TeaseMe – Opponent fled (possibly no gold foil cards)
The Rest:
I did sell off a vouchers while the price is up, so I’ve got a bunch of Hive (a cryptocurrency), but I haven’t used that to buy other game assets yet. I should spend some time shopping while prices are down, not to mention help out InvestYGator by sending him some leveled up summoners, but I haven’t made time to do either of these. A big reason for my being so busy is that I just switched jobs, and as of yesterday now work full time on Splinterlands.
To celebrate, and to make working easier, I recently replaced my approximately 10 year old PC and got a laptop to use for work (If my wife asks, it was very important for me to get a gaming PC for work…). Setting both of these up and getting stuff copied over has been a fairly time consuming activity, outside of actually doing coding work. Anyhow, we’re getting off topic here!
My plan for the rest of the season is just to continue farming rewards and DEC, as usual of late. I hope to make some time this weekend to do a little card shopping, but we’ll see if that happens. If you made it this far, thank you for reading. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know and I’ll be back next week with the season wrap up!
