My Splinterlands Blog #68 – More Chaos Legion Air Drops

Welcome to another entry where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! Initially it was a self challenge, to see how far I could get with the initial set of cards plus whatever I could win. But, that kind of fell apart around week 30 (with the game integrating with the WAX network and users being able to buy and sell cards on Atomic Hub). Now, it’s mainly just me tracking my progress within the game.

Over the past week, the Chaos Legion general sale opened up, and while a couple million packs did sell, it didn’t sell out all 12 million in the first day. Also, not only did they reveal the 6th air drop card for the Chaos Legion set, but they also actually did the 4th, 5th, and 6th air drops due to all of the pack sales. The new air drop card is a pretty great tank for the Fire team, particularly in reverse speed rules.

The other two cards were in my previous article!

I got 2 of each legendary card from my pack pool purchases, plus I got really lucky and got 1 extra Grum and 1 gold foil Lira The Dark from my handful of pack purchases on my own account. I also opened 100 packs to continue to work on leveling up my Chaos Legion cards. I am trying to hold a lot of them until the legendary summoners get added, but it’s hard to keep from opening them.

My third Gold Foil Legendary card!

At the time of this writing, about 200,000 packs are left until the next air drop card is released. They did preview the art for the next couple of air drop cards, but didn’t show the stats yet. They’ll probably preview it at the next weekly Ask Me Anything with the team. Anyhow, let’s take a look at the usual breakdown of the past week:

Daily Quest Rewards:

Daily Quest # 497 – Win 3 with No Neutral. With the season reset, I got stuck in Silver I. Rather than spend the time trying to grind back up to Gold on the first day of the season, I just finished my quest in Silver and got a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Deceiver (common monster), a Pelacor Mercenary (common monster), and a Twilight Basilisk (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 498 – Win 5 with Life. I ground out of Silver and back to Gold III getting a Legendary potion, 2 Pelacor Bandits (common monster), a Gargoya Lion (common monster), a Venari Crystalsmith (rare monster), and a Venari Bonesmith (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 499 – Win 5 with Dragon. For completing this quest, I received 373 (362 + 10 + 1) Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Deceiver, and a Pelacor Conjurer (common monster).

Daily Quest # 500 – Win 5 with Sneak. For finishing this daily quest, I got a Legendary potion, a Gold potion, 2 Pelacor Bandits, 1 Exploding Rats (rare monster), and a Djinn Chwala (epic monster)!

Daily Quest # 501 – Win 5 with Sneak. I manage to get back up to Gold II and got a Gold potion, a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Bandit, 2 Gargoya Lions, a Venari Heatsmith (common monster), and a Lava Launcher (epic monster)!

Daily Quest # 502 – Win 5 with Fire… re-rolled to Win 5 with Life. For completing this quest, I received 14 DEC, a Gold potion, a Pelacor Bandit, a Venari Heatsmith, an Exploding Rats, and a Venari Crystalsmith.

Daily Quest # 503 – Win 5 with Death… re-rolled to Win 5 with Dragon. For completing this quest, I got 3 DEC, a Gold potion, a Venari Heatsmith, a Gargoya Lion, an Exploding rats, a Venari Crystal Smith, and a Venari Wavesmith.

Daily Quest # 504 – Win 5 with Dragon. As usual, at the end of the week I managed to get back to Gold I. For completing the daily quest, I got 4 DEC, a Legendary potion, 2 Gold potions, 2 Pelacor Mercenaries, a Pelacor Bandit, and a Venari Bonesmith.

I also opened 100 Chaos Legion packs in a group to celebrate the general sale!

Lots of epics, a pair of gold foil rares, a gold foil common, and a few more copies of Obsidian were a good start. Though 20 copies of Crypt Beetle isn’t too exciting.
Kind of a lackluster section, with just a couple gold foil commons and some epic cards that aren’t highly playable.
The gold foil Keyla Frendul is a really nice find! Also happy to get another Grund, as I really want to level him up. Got a few more copies of Thadius Brood as well.
A lot of gold foils, and a few more regular Keyla Frendul and General Sloan cards.
The game had me pretty nervous, hiding all the legendary cards at the end. Really happy to get 2 more copies of Uriel to level him up, as well as enough copies of Legionnaire Alvar to level him up as well!

What’s also notable, is that out of 100 packs I got 0 copies of the Fire summoner. I still have only got her, and Obsidian, up to level 3. I should probably just buy copies individually, but I’ve got a lot of packs left to open still!

Tournaments:

Silvershield Knights Tournament, Silver League rules with all card editions: After noting that I hadn’t played in any tournaments last week, I went and signed up for this one. My Silver game isn’t all that solid still, so I went 5-6 to come in 82nd place. I still got 25 Splintershard tokens (SPS) for my 12.5 SPS entry fee.

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #58, playing Gold foil Bronze, Untamed only. I had one opponent, who didn’t submit a team. On the bright side, the guild came in 1st place for a change!

Guild Brawl #59, playing Gold foil Bronze, Untamed only. We had at least one person fail to submit their teams, and ended up coming in 4th place this time around.

Vs. TTOTT of IDEAAVALON

I also bought and opened one more Gladiator pack:

Two rares, but nothing gold foil that I could use in my brawl.

The Rest:

No real trading again this week. I’ve been fairly busy, and mostly just doing my daily quests. My InvestYGator alt didn’t find anything of note the past week either. Overall, it’s been a fairly quiet week outside of opening a lot of packs.

I expect the rest of the season to be pretty much similar to the past several, where I sit in the league just farming daily quests and then jumping up at the end. Aside from the upcoming air drops, the next big thing on the horizon is the split between modern and wild formats. Hopefully land will be coming out sometime this year as well.

If you made it this far, thank you for reading. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. I’ll be back next week with the season wrap up!
