Welcome to the first weekly update of 2022, where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! Initially it was a self challenge, to see how far I could get with the initial set of cards plus whatever I could win. But, that kind of fell apart around week 30 (with the game integrating with the WAX network and users being able to buy and sell cards on Atomic Hub). Now, it’s mainly just me tracking my progress with the game.
It has been a quiet start to the new year, at least as far as playing Splinterlands goes. Chaos Legion should be for sale publicly with no Voucher requirements in less than a week! The tournaments haven’t been getting populated for a bit, as the expected split to a modern (Untamed + Chaos Legion sets) and wild (all sets) format is expected to come around the same time as the public release of Chaos Legion packs.
I’m doing a lot less support work of late, as the influx of tickets has calmed down quite a bit. I am also trying to help do some other stuff with the game, but we’ll see what ends up happening with that. I don’t want to jinx it by writing about it too early, so instead let’s get on with my usual weekly report:
Daily Quest Rewards:
Daily Quest # 482 – Win 5 with Earth. Back in Gold III at the start of the new season, and competition is particularly fierce as always. When I did manage to complete the daily quest, I received 6 (4 + 2) Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), 2 Gold potions, and 2 Pelacor Bandits (common monster).
Daily Quest # 483 – Win 5 with Snipe. For completing this daily quest, I got 72 (6 + 66) DEC, 1 Gold potion, 2 Legendary potions, and a Pelacor Mercenary (common monster).
Daily Quest # 484 – Win 5 with Death… re-rolled with Win 3 with No Neutral! For finishing this daily quest, I received 6 (4 + 2) DEC, a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Conjurer (common monster), and 2 Pelacor Bandits.
Daily Quest # 485 – Win 5 with Death… re-rolled to Win 5 with Life. I thought this would be awful, as my Life cards aren’t quite Gold league level. But, I managed to get through it without too many problems playing against opponents with even lower-level cards. For completing this quest, I got 14 (10 + 4) DEC, a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Bandit, a Pelacor Conjurer, and a Venari Crystalsmith (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 486 – Win 5 with Dragon. For finishing this daily quest, I received 1 Alchemy potion, 2 Pelacor Deceivers (common monster), a Pelacor Conjurer, an Exploding Rats (rare monster), and a Djinn Oshannus (legendary monster)!
Daily Quest # 487 – Win 5 with Dragon. I climbed back up to Gold II and got 16 (8 + 8) DEC, a Gold potion, a Legendary potion, a Venari Heatsmith (common monster), a Venari Seedsmith (rare monster), and a Venari Wavesmith (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 488 – Win 5 with Fire… re-rolled to Win 5 with Snipe. For completing this daily quest, I received 31 (14 + 2 + 15) DEC, 2 Pelacor Mercenaries, a Venari Heatsmith, and a Venari Crystalsmith.
Daily Quest # 489 – Win 5 with Dragon. For completing this daily quest, I got 36 (29 + 7) DEC, 3 Gold potions, and 2 Gargoya Lions (common monster).
I also opened more Chaos Legion packs:
I didn’t play in any tournaments this past week. As noted above, there haven’t been a lot. Clove71’s has been doing a few real-time tournaments each week, that unfortunately are at a time I can’t typically make.
Guild Brawl #56, playing Gold foil Bronze, Untamed only. We dropped back down to the Tier 1 arena competition, but a few people missed signing up or submitting teams this time around. We ended up coming in 6th place. Hopefully people will sign up for the next one!
No real trading to speak of this past week. My InvestYGator alt account didn’t get any cards of note. I’m mainly waiting on my group buy Chaos Legion packs to come in and the next airdrop to happen. It will be interesting to see how quickly packs sell during the initial public sale.
I mentioned last week that prices have dipped a bit. This seems to be partially a general dip in the crypto markets, but also has to do with the end of obvious incentives to hold Splintershard tokens (SPS). With the Voucher requirements for buying packs being shifted to only being needed to get the free bonus packs on large pack purchases, people are less likely to be locking it up.
This has also reduced the incentive to hold DEC for the airdropped SPS. The DEC price has dipped back down to 1/4th of a penny, still up four times its original soft peg of 1/10th of a penny. As I mentioned previously, I spent most of mine on Chaos Legion packs.
That’s about it for this week. I hope everyone had a good New Year! If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. I’ll be back next week with the season wrap up!
