Welcome to another weekly update on my attempt to challenge the Splinterlands ranked leagues! Initially it was a self challenge, to see how far I could get with the initial set of cards plus whatever I could win. But, that kind of fell apart around week 30 (with the game integrating with the WAX network and users being able to buy and sell cards on Atomic Hub).
The issues continue with the end of this ranked season. The game experienced a lot of hiccups with the season rewards going out, which also impacted anything on the Hive network. Multiple players complained about not getting rewards, and lots of people had issues getting their season reward claims to go through when the season had just ended.
The big announcement this week was a change to the Bronze league prize pools, mainly aimed at hurting the massive bot farms. Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) will no longer be in daily rewards for Bronze and the chance at reward cards has been reduced. There was a large sale of reward cards at the end of the season, so we’ll see how this impacts things going forwards. The DEC for ranked league rewards does seem to have gone down quite a bit this past season, even though the price of it still remains high.
League | Card | DEC | Credits | Potion |
---|---|---|---|---|
Bronze III / Novice | 10% | 0% | 45% | 45% |
Bronze II | 20% | 0% | 40% | 40% |
Bronze I | 30% | 0% | 35% | 35% |
Silver III + | 50% | 25% | 0% | 25% |
It’s mostly been a quiet week. I jumped up to Gold I at the end of the season, rather than try for a spot in Silver, which I feel is pretty unrealistic without a lot more higher level cards. One notable tournament this past week, but I’ll get into that later. For now, let’s get on to my usual breakdown of the past week:
Daily Quest Rewards:
Daily Quest # 386 – Win 5 with Sneak. For completing this daily quest, I got 2 DEC, a Legendary potion, a Pelacor Bandit (common monster), and a Pelacor Deceiver (common monster).
Daily Quest # 387 – Win 5 with Earth. For finishing this daily quest, I received 13 (9 + 4) DEC, a Gold potion, and a Legendary potion.
Daily Quest # 388 – Win 5 with Life. For completing this daily quest, I got a Legendary potion, 2 Gold potions, and a first copy of Djinn Renova (epic monster)!
Daily Quest # 389 – Win 3 with No Neutral. For finishing this daily quest, I got 2 Legendary potions, 7 DEC, and a Pelacor Deceiver.
Daily Quest # 390 – Win 5 with Water. For completing this daily quest, I received 2 Legendary potions, 5 DEC, and a Gargoya Lion (common monster).
Daily Quest # 391 – Win 5 with Snipe. For completing this daily quest, I received 3 Legendary potions, and 175 DEC. At least it was a decent amount of DEC!
Daily Quest # 392 – Win 5 with Snipe. After grinding up to Gold I, I ended up getting 2 Gold potions, a Venari Wavesmith (rare monster), a Pelacor Deceiver, and 33 DEC (15 + 7 + 7 + 4).
Tournaments:
Sunday Bronze Blunderbuss, no legendary cards, Untamed sets tournament. I went a fairly poor 5-5-1 to not make day two, since these tournaments are now full of just stronger players with Splintershard Tokens (SPS). Due to the lack of players, I still finished in 46th place doubling my 6.25 SPS entry fee.
Stache Classic Bronze League Preliminary Qualifier tournament. This is another series being put on by Zen Sports, with players only able to compete within a specific league. I managed to come in 9th place, which is high enough to qualify me for the main Qualifier tournament this Saturday. The top 8 of that will make it into the big final tournament on the 16th of October.
Guild Brawls:
Guild Brawl #36, playing Gold foil Bronze, Untamed set only. I had no opponents, but the guild still managed to come in 1st place! I also opened some more Gladiator packs.
The Rest:
No real trading once again. I really need to stop quibbling over what to do with my Untamed packs and either open or sell them. Maybe a little bit of both. Nothing too exciting from my InvestYGator account this past week, at least until his season rewards!
While I got a lot more cards on my main account, none of them were quite so rare.
It seems like Chaos Legion packs won’t be able to be opened until sometime in November. The land plot claim also seems to have been pushed off as the game struggles to deal with lots of technical issues. The pre-sale should be starting this month, though they’ll be restricting it with a voucher system. You get vouchers air dropped by having staked SPS tokens in the game.
For the upcoming season I’m mainly planning on trying to get both accounts back into Silver I again, and try to grind out daily quests. I’m mainly paralyzed by indecision, as I hold my DEC to get more SPS tokens air dropped. I’m accumulating a lot of funds, but not really improving my deck that much.
Granted, between helping out with Splinterlands support and my full time job, it’s hard enough to find time to get my dailies done. Looking forward to the tournament this weekend, though I’ll probably have to rent out a Llama and Yodin for the day. Thank you for reading and if you have any comments, suggestions, or feedback please let me know in the comments below!
