Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! With the end of this last season, we’ve come to another milestone where the game has had another major change occur to the reward system. This was the final season of reward chests, and going forward everyone will be getting Glint, a renamed reward points, which you can then spend directly to get the things that used to be in chests.
Unless of course everyone hates the new system, and they go back to reward chests. But, that’s not going to happen in the short term. After taking a beating in Modern, where my collection is mediocre, I decided to just focus on Wild for this season. I’ll try Modern again after the next cycle of rewards, to see if it’s any better. But, overall Wild was, and is, an easy environment in which to get to the upper leagues.
There was no town hall this week, so nothing new from the team. There is one scheduled for next week. The Bitcoin Halving event should be coming up soon, and while they haven’t released card details yet, they did note the planned pricing for the 2 cards. The DAO voted against funding it to be a burning event, so the company will be taking all the proceeds as profit instead.
I opened up the last of my extra Rebellion packs that aren’t currently staked into Conflicts:
Brawls
Guild Brawl #205 playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in 3rd place this time around. Not going to complain after all of the times we came in near the bottom.
Vs. SPLINTERBOB of SILVER GOLD KNIGHTS.
Vs. WARLOCKS of BABY MERCENARIES
Vs. CHARGING-STEGAS of BRAVE BATTLEMAGES
Vs. CRYPTOUSER004 of SUICUIDE SQUAD
Guild Brawl #206 playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. I missed writing this down, but I’m pretty sure we came in 1st place based on the rewards. I got a lot of free wins this time around, with other guilds not filling this fray.
Vs. LYRICA of BLOODLUST GLADIATORS
Vs. DK240SR of SLOTH CONFEDERATION
Vs. TOPLOADER of LEGENDARY PARTYBUS
Vs. JORISSINO of SONS OF ASGARD
With the high placings, and long season, I opened up four Gladiator packs since last time:
The Rest
With all of the weak decks in Wild of late, and the inability to stay within a league, I made it up to Diamond II with my formerly Silver alternate deck and to Champion III with my main deck! Granted, with the removal of chests, I’m no longer getting higher quality chests coming into the next season. I also got very few chests per day in Diamond with my alternate account, as it has relatively low Splintershards (SPS) staked – which highly impacted how quickly you earned chests.
This final set of season chests did not have SPS, as it was moved into battle rewards during the update at the end of this last season. Some people were upset about that, but I’m happy to get a lot of cards. I still need to update most of mine.
It’s been a long week, and I’m a bit late getting this article up! I’ll probably need to follow up with a mid-season article before too long. At any rate, thank you for reading! I’ll be back in about a week with my thoughts on the new Reward shop and how this new season with Glint rewards is going.
