Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! With the latest update the game has expanded banning bots to tournaments and brawls, as well as said that the language in the new terms of service prohibits the “battle helpers” that pick cards for you to play. The main services providing bots and helpers have said that they will respect these bans and restrict their services to Wild Ranked, the one section of gameplay where they are legal.

The majority of the Discord community for the game seems happy about these changes, as they did come from community proposals that were voted in. The main people upset seem to feel that this is moving away from a ‘decentralized’ game, where code is law. That, or people who wanted to play without having to, uh, actually play… in which case, there’s still Wild mode.
Having played both Wild and Modern, I actually feel like Wild is easier with all of the bot armies in it. While the Splintershards (SPS) per win may be far less, it’s a lot easier to get wins and earn reward chests. Both of my accounts have been stuck in mid-Silver league in Modern for all of this season so far, though I got up to where I can advance to Gold in Wild.
The other update of note is that you can now burn vouchers to get extra re-rolls of your daily focus. Not a big deal, but nice to see something to use vouchers for, since they haven’t had much of a real use in a while. Other than that, I also opened a couple more Chaos Legion packs:

Guild Brawls:
Guild Brawl #174 playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in 6th place.
Vs. PIRATECAPTAIN of PEOPLES – opponent fled
Vs. IDIWOW4 of D’LANASIAN PHOENIX
Vs. MEGA.MARKUS of SILENCE BEHIND THE MOON

The Rest:
Land 1.5 came out to the public test server, well the Mavericks test server – for players that bought a large number of packs from the store. It seems quite buggy still and is clearly not ready for release. Granted, it’s been about a week since it was posted, so hopefully it has been getting fixed up, but considering it’s already months overdue it felt a bit lackluster.
Still no news on Soulkeep, the tower defense game that is also months overdue. The Goals soccer game seems to slowly, but steadily, be getting updates, though I haven’t really been following it closely as I’m not that into soccer as a sport. But, in one last items of Splinterlands news, it sounds like the next main set, Rebellion, will be coming out before the end of this year.
That’s about all the news this week. No real trading or tournaments on my part, though I should be trying to get more Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) for land. Thank you for reading, and I’ll be back in about a week with the season wrap up!
