Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! I was away for a week visiting my parents and attending a bachelor party, which was the main impetus for the trip. I did have my laptop with me and worked for most of the time I was there, as well as played games for the season. But, I didn’t do the daily recording that I normally do for these articles.
This got me thinking about the format that I’ve been using for these articles, and if anyone really cares what I got day-to-day from playing the game. It is hard to tell if anyone even reads these, or if they just get upvotes for rewards. Long story short, I’m thinking of dropping the rewards tracking and only writing about updates to the game and how the guild is doing at Brawls.
While I was away, there was a major change to how rewards work in the game. Staked Splintershards (SPS) was made a major factor of how many reward points you get for winning games. This was in the Whitepaper for SPS, but it took about 2 years to actually make it into the game. As part of this change, all collection power requirements were also removed from ranked play.
Some of the passed proposal items were also put into the game. The set 6% market fee, where 2% of that is burned, and Riftwatcher packs being sold for Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) were both implemented. A host of issues with the new Tech Modernization card collection and market pages were also fixed.
It seems like the banning of bots in Modern league should be coming around the end of this month. Land 1.5 and Soulkeep, the tower defense game, are also supposed to be coming out soon. One other update relating to that is they pulled the Soulkeep card packs from the store, as the sale of them was supposed to end at the start of this month.
I’m going to skip the daily season rewards, but I did open a couple of Chaos Legion packs:
Guild Brawls:
Guild Brawl #158, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in 5th place this time around.
Vs. KHOY of DRUNKERN DWARVES – opponent Fled
Vs. A-SECONDCHANGE of DRAGONSLAYER
Vs. JOE-AVERAGE of SUPERNATURAL
Vs. OBIEKTOR of POSEIDON’s TRIDENT
Vs. DK250SR of SLOTH CONFEDERATION
Vs. FRIBA of KILLERS OF THE DEPRAVED (didn’t catch this battle recording)
Guild Brawl #159, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. This cycle wrapped up as I was getting back from my trip, and I forgot to record the battles. The high point was the guild came in 3rd place for a change of pace!
Guild Brawl #160, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in 6th place, with one person either not submitting team or losing all their battles… which, usually means that they forgot to submit.
Vs. WELLINGT567 of WELLINGTON GROUP
I also opened two Gladius packs. The first one I accidentally closed before taking a screenshot, so I had to pull it off of the PeakMonsters history:
Season Rewards:
I managed to get back up to Diamond III this time around, in Modern only, on my main account. I had no problem getting up to Gold at the end of season on my InvestYGator alternate account. Both of them actually were getting Gold League chests this past season, though the quantity of chests is pretty telling.
I’ve been getting a bit frustrated with the game of late. It may just be my own lack of cards, but it seems like I can’t make it back into Diamond in Wild league. I actually think I had an easier time playing in the low end of Diamond in Modern once I made it out of Gold. I spent a bunch of days failing to get up to Diamond in Wild.
Granted, I am sitting on a pile of DEC for Land 1.5 that I would have otherwise bought cards with. I did do some work breaking down how many monsters of what types I would need for my land plots, and if I stop playing Wild and put my higher level cards on there I think I will be in good shape.
That’s about it for this season. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know below. Thank you for reading, and I’ll be back next week with a mid-season update.
