My Splinterlands Blog #120 – Last Chaos Legion Summoner

Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! We’re in the final leg of the Chaos Legion release. The last Chaos Legion legendary summoner, Lily Shieldpaw, was released and I opened up my last 100 Chaos Legion packs to celebrate.

I got my minimum airdrop amount of one copy, with no extra copies. About par for the course with my airdrop luck.

A lot of changes will be coming out right after this season ends, like Seasonal rentals and a rework of the rating resets for Ranked. But, since those are only coming into effect after this season, I’ll cover those a bit more next time. Since I’ve got a ton of pack and season reward screen shots, I’ll get right to the breakdown of the past week!

Daily Quest Rewards:

Daily Quest # 885. My main account, playing in Gold league, got Fire Focus. I received 0.317 Splintershards (SPS), 66 (33 + 33) Merits, 9 Gold potions, 3 Ferox Defender (common monster), a Drybone Barbarian (common monster), and 2 gold foil Evelyn Auvera (epic monster)!

This seems like a useful one of the no attack epic monsters. The ability set is pretty great, especially for poison rule sets.

InvestYGator, my alternate account in Silver league, got Stealth Focus. I got 7.842 (0.079 + 0.089 + 7.597 + 0.077) SPS, 7 (2 + 3 + 2) Legendary potions, 4 (2 + 1 + 1) Gold potions, and a Wily Coyotian (common monster).

Daily Quest # 886. Got Exploits Focus. I received 1.898 (0.348 + 0.267 + 1.283) SPS, 18 (9 + 9) Legendary potions, 22 (12 + 10) Gold potions, 3 Firecallers (common monster), 7 Possessed Puppets (common monster), and 6 Fungus Flingers (common monster).

InvestYGator got Earth Focus. I got 0.187 (0.072 + 0.049 + 0.066) SPS, 100 (18 + 82) Merits, 6 (3 + 3) Gold potions, a Riverboat Captain (rare monster), 2 Madcap Magus (rare monster), and an Eternan Brune (rare summoner).

Mainly cool for being a llamataur, half-man and half-llama. I haven’t really used him, but I also haven’t gotten enough copies to get him to a useable level.

Daily Quest # 887. Got Earth Focus. I received 1.883 (0.28 + 0.216 + 1.181 + 0.206) SPS, 22 (11 + 11) Legendary potions, 55 (33 + 22) Merits, 12 Gold potions, and 5 Possessed Puppets.

InvestYGator got Healing Focus. I got 0.298 (0.046 + 0.055 + 0.197) SPS, 154 (64 + 90) Merits, 3 Legendary potions, 1 Gold potion, 3 Possessed Puppets, 2 Gobson Bombers (common monster), and 2 Terraceous Grunts (common monster).

Daily Quest # 888. Got Exploits Focus. I made it up to Diamond league, but had a family emergency so only got 2 chests for the day. I received 133 (44 + 89) Merits.

InvestYGator got Flying Focus. I got 1.694 (1.492 + 0.202) SPS, 3 Legendary potions, 5 (3 + 2) Gold potions, 7 Merits, a Firecaller, a Terraceous Giant, and a Riverboat Captain.

A solid card for reverse speed rules. He’s also not bad in general at lower level with the blast damage.

Daily Quest # 889. Got Anti Magic Focus. I received 0.971 SPS, 8 Gold potions, 42 (22 + 20) Legendary potions, 8 Wily Coyotian, and an Iidri Fyre (epic monster)!

InvestYGator got Life Focus. I got 0.230 (0.198 + 0.032) SPS, 330 (10 + 320) Merits, 3 (2 + 1) Legendary potions, 1 Gold Potion, a Wily Coyotian, 6 (3 + 3) Swamp Spitters (common monster), 3 Gobson Bombers, and 2 Ravenhood Wardens (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 890. Got Ailments Focus. I received 1.06 SPS, 35 (19 + 16) Legendary potions, 11 Fungus Flinters, a Terraceous Grunt, and 3 Dumacke Orcs (common monster).

InvestYGator got Flying Focus. I got 0.213 (0.076 + 0.072 + 0.065) SPS, 10 (3 + 3 + 3 + 1) gold potions, 3 Legendary potions, 7 Merits, 3 Coastal Sentry (common monster), and a Lobb Lowland (rare summoner).

The new Earth Summoner, who may be one of the more useful ones as he will let you play Quora. His speed ability is also typically good, except in reverse speed matches.

As I mentioned earlier, I opened my last 100 Chaos Legion packs to see if I could get some more copies of Lily Shieldpaw. Here’s what I ended up getting:

Two Grandmaster Rathe’s and another Possibilus The Wise are the highlight here. The pair of Chaos Dragons and Fiends are also nice to see. I am still far from having enough copies of most common cards to get near max level, without having bought them from other players – which I have done for a few key cards.

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #133, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in second to last place.

Vs. NIXAUXI of YGG SYNDICATE

Vs. TOLSKONE of CREATORS

Vs. ALEXKO-STEEMIT of GOLDCARDS

Vs. SHOOTERMACGAVIN of BIRD GANG

Vs. A-A-R0N of NFT Warriors – Opponent Fled

Vs. LOLTH of MENZOBERRANZAN

Guild Brawl #134, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. I got busy and forgot to record where the guild finished, but it was on the lower end of things as attendance has been fairly bad for brawls.

Vs. YOUICHI of SAMURAI SOUL LLAC

Vs. SNAKELIPS of THE ELITE

Vs. RACHELREDHAIR of KILLERFISH

VS ACE34B of [TYC] FRANCE

Vs. STDD of something foreign

I opened up one more Gladiator pack:

Nice to get double rare cards, albeit no gold foils for my brawl deck.

The Rest:

With all of the screenshots, this is turning into a fairly long article, so I’ll try to keep it brief. No tournaments or trading, though I do need to trade around some cards at some point. I jumped up to Gold II at the end of Season with InvestYGator, and made it to Diamond II on my main. I’m pretty happy with that, as it greatly reduced my risk of falling back into Bronze/Silver respectively.

Here’s what I got for my season rewards, starting with InvestYGator who was getting Gold chests from jumping up to that league at the end of last season:

All told, a Chaos Legion pack and four gold foil Madcap Magus’s were the highlight here. I am happy to get more cards in general as well.
The seven gold foil Franz Ruffmane let me get him up to about a playable level for Gold! Sadly, no packs, but a decent amount of SPS, potions, and cards.

The new cards are somewhat playable in Silver, though I’ve got less leveled up to where they do well in Gold league. They should get there eventually! My goal for the next season is, as always, to try to get more cards.

That’s it for this season update! Thank you for reading, and I’ll be back next week with another update! I’ll try to spend a little more time talking about the new changes that came out, plus what reward cards I have been using.
