My Splinterlands Blog #119 – A Slow Start To February

Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! A quiet week for the first half of this season, with a relatively small set of patches that didn’t really have any impact to game mechanics. It has also been a fairly slow week in terms of getting new cards, or at least it felt like it.

We’re back, baby!

It does seem like the bots are back in force, after a brief drop in activity following the release of the new reward cards. Or, at least in Silver league it seems like I’m mostly facing lots of obvious bot accounts. Anyhow, without much other news, let’s take a look at my breakdown of the past week.

Daily Quest Rewards:

Daily Quest # 878. Got Defend Focus on my main account, still getting Diamond League chests from before reset. I received 19 Gold potions and 5 Coastal Sentry (common monster).

InvestYGator, my alternate account that mainly plays in Silver League, got Defend Focus. These were still Gold League chests from my advancing before the season reset. I got 19 (8 + 11) Gold potions.

Daily Quest # 879. Got Anti Melee Focus and back to Gold League rewards. I received 0.16 SPS, 22 Merits, 8 Legendary potions, 3 Helois Matriarchs (rare summoner), and a Chaos Legion pack!

InvestYGator got Stealth Focus and went back to Silver League chests. I got 0.446 (0.097 + 0.094 + 0.22 + 0.035) SPS, 3 Gobson Bombers (common monster), a gold foil Dumacke Orc (common monster), and a gold foil Wily Coyotian (common monster).

Daily Quest # 880. Got Disable Focus. I received 0.684 (0.242 + 0.442) SPS, 18 (11 + 7) Gold potions, and 3 Dumacke Orcs.

InvestYGator got Earth Focus. I got 0.658 (0.089 + 0.295 + 0.046 + 0.089 + 0.064 + 0.075) SPS, 72 Merits, 1 Gold potion, and 1 Franz Ruffmane (rare summoner).

Daily Quest # 881. Got Flying Focus. I received 1.65 SPS, 11 Gold potions, 6 Wily Coyotians, 7 Drybone Barbarians (common monster), and a War Pegasus (rare monster).

Like most of the 7 mana cards, this is a pretty useful one. Good synergy with General Sloan, decent health, and flying is always handy.

InvestYGator got Fire Focus. I got 0.305 (0.218 + 0.087) SPS, 3 (2 + 1) Legendary potions, 2 Gold potions, 2 Fungus Flingers (common monster), and 3 Drybone Barbarians.

Daily Quest # 882. Got Death Focus. I received 4.41 SPS, 56 Merits, 20 (11 + 9) Gold potions, 10 Legendary potions, a Possessed Puppet (common monster), and 4 Ravenhood Wardens (rare monster).

An interesting addition to Death, as there’s usually less defensive cards. The damage is a bit low, but might be a playable utility card.

InvestYGator got Exploits Focus. I got 2.348 (0.057 + 1.048 + 1.1 + 0.099 + 0.044) SPS, 1 Gold potion, 5 (1 + 1 + 3) Legendary potions, 21 Merits, and a Kra’ar Xoc (epic monster).

Maybe useful in niche situations where 1 mana cost cards are called for, but normally there are better options to choose.

Daily Quest # 883. Got Earth Focus. I received 0.396 SPS, 22 Merits, 8 Legendary potions, 4 Terraceous Grunts (common monster), a Venari Marksrat (commons monster), and a gold foil Venari Marksrat.

InvestYGator got Disable Focus. I got 0.469 (0.072 + 0.062 + 0.291 + 0.044) SPS, 28 (10 + 18) Merits, 7 (1 + 2 + 1 + 3) Gold potions, a Costal Sentry, and 2 Imperial Knights (common monster).

Daily Quest # 884. Got Exploits Focus. I received 0.627 (0.325 + 0.302) SPS, 26 (11 + 7 + 8) Legendary potions, 6 Coastal Sentry, and an Iidri Fyre (epic monster).

An interesting card with no attack and taunt. Seems like it might have some niche uses at higher level or in combination with cards that give it attack.

InvestYGator got Dragon Focus. I got 0.633 (0.361 + 0.09 + 0.072 + 0.073 + 0.037) SPS, 63 (21 + 21 + 21) Merits, 4 (3 + 1) Legendary potions, and 3 (2 + 1) Gold potions.

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #131, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in 3rd from last place this time around, with 2 people not submitting teams.

Vs. G1566A1577 of SON’S OF ARDA

Vs. MUGGER of KNIGHTS OF NHINE

Vs. BAGGIO012 of NFT GAME TH

Vs. LLAMAMEAT of CONQUEST of KIBANDIA

Vs. CRADLE2GAME of BANG BANG

I opened one more Gladiator pack:

Not a great pack, but at least these might be useful with the new summoners.

The Rest:

No real rentals or trading, as usual. There do seem to be some updates coming that will impact gameplay for the second half of this season that were discussed on the recent Town Hall. But, I’ll write more about those in my season wrap up.

I am enjoying the new reward cards, and am happy to see them when they do come up in my daily rewards. I have still only really gotten them leveled up somewhat decently for Silver League on InvestYGator. I should eventually get enough on my main account for Gold league, given enough time.

That’s it for this week’s report! Thank you for reading, and I’ll be back next week with the season wrap up!
