My Splinterlands Blog #104 – The Long Halloween Season

Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! At the time of this writing we are about halfway through the season, as usual, though this particular season is a bit longer than average. Not a lot of game updates happened since my last article, though there were a few minor updates.

Land owners and holders of packs for the future tower defense game are now receiving Splintershard (SPS) air drops. I personally own a little bit of both. The Ethereum minted Runi card should be getting released soon. I got talked into signing up to mine one of them, and I’m hoping to get either a gold copy or at least some art that I like – as each one has a unique image.

It’s a slower monster with decent damage, somewhat low health, and the ability to attack from any spot in the formation.

The Riftwatcher pre-sale card and title were finally air dropped, though I didn’t receive either. I expect the other outstanding Riftwatcher air drop will be out soon. Lux Vega, the neutral summoner from Splinterfest, also should be coming out any week now. Anyhow, enough about what is still upcoming and on to the review of the past week:

I opened on Riftwatcher’s pack:

One of the Epic summoners, though not one I’m likely to get up to a playable level anytime soon.

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #109, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. Another not great showing from the guild, we came in third from last place.

Vs. METALNUTS of CRYSTAL

Vs. ZEESHANNAQVI3RD of GLADIATORS III

Vs. ISMO954 of LEGENDARY HATCHLINGS

Vs. MARCELO192 of WARLORDS

Vs. KASMIR of AGGRESIVE GAMBLERS

Vs. FROSTGIANT of REACH FOR THE STARS

Guild Brawl #110, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. Another not great showing from the guild, we came in second from last place.

Vs. SPEEDMASTER69 of LANDLORDS

Vs. VASSAL of PEAKMONSTERS FEEDER 4

Vs. IURIOMAGICO of PEAKMONSTERS [BRASIL]

Vs. THE-WIZARDMAN2 of THE WIZARDS

I opened one Gladiator pack:

Nothing for my gold foil brawl deck.

The Rest:

No trading or tournaments this past week. There is a new proposal to vote on reducing the earnings for cards that are 2 levels below the current league limits – i.e., there would be a penalty for playing Bronze level cards in Gold league. It’s expected to pass, though it’s somewhat contentious, with some people being vocally opposed on the game’s Discord server.

There is also a proposal upcoming to add SPS rewards to brawls. I expect this will also pass, and hopefully give the guild some inspiration to actually start trying to win at brawls again (or, actually do them, in some cases). And, that’s about all the news that I can recall.

I did manage to make it up to Diamond III right at the end of this first week. With the longer season, I’m hoping I can manage to climb up a bit… or, at least get some decent Diamond daily chests. Though, I may need to rent a few cards to really be competitive, as it seems like there’s a lot more leveled up decks out there nowadays.

And, that’s really about it! If you made it this far, thank you for reading! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to let me know below. And, I’ll also be back in a week with the season wrap up!
